The public funeral for Marine First Lt. Alexander Bonnyman Jr., the Medal of Honor recipient whose remains were recovered from Tarawa on May 29 by a team from History Flight, has now been confirmed for noon Sunday, Sept. 27 at Highland Memorial Cemetery in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Bonnyman will be buried in the family plot purchased by his father, Alexander Bonnyman Sr., and where the family always hoped he would be interred. He will be buried next to his father, his mother, Frances Berry Bonnyman, sisters Anne Atkinson and Margot McKeon, brother George Gordon Bonnyman and his wife, Isabel.
Further details will be announced at a later date.
